Every year on, or close to, the birthday of Robbie Burns, the memorable Scottish poet, all over the world people gather to sing his songs, recite his poems, and eat traditional Scottish food. Tickets are available from Moira and Bob Kerr, Carolyn and Barry Fraser, Jayne and Bill Park. Come and enjoy the haggis (or meat loaf) and clapshot (guess what that is!). 25 Jan. 2010 -- Burns Night: Fletcher Church held a Burns Night in 2008 and Burns Night 250 in 2009. No plans for it this year; find somewhere else if you want to attend.

What do you do when you don't know what to do . Your body which has served you well for so many years no longer does the job -- but you still have to.
. The person you thought was a trusted friend turns against you.
. The money you had set aside for retirement collapsed, and you don't know how you will manage.
. . . We may face situations which perplex us and even threaten us. How do we respond? Where is God in the picture?
. . . "What to do when you don't know what to do" is the theme for the series of sermons which will take up up almost to Easter. Here are the titles for each week, along with the Bible paqssage they are based on (so you can read ahead).
. . . Why not invite a friend or neighbour to join you in this series? It might be just what they're looking for right now.

In the United Kingdom, good weather at Candlemas is taken to indicate severe winter weather later:

The Frasers plan to share their experience of Israel through video clips and photos, Israeli food, and a chance for discussion and questions. Supper will be provided. Come and enjoy. Lunch Tickets Are $6.00 GUEST SPEAKER: Lucy Olgetree, co-owner of Winter Wheat, Sparta, will be talking about Canadian aid for southern Sudan. Lucy will have just returned from her 3rd trip to Sudan, where she and Denise Pelley offer a music and art camp to children of Sudan.
